Fresh and crisp green tea from China with the energizing boost of American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), accented with dried ginger. Sweet, earthy green aroma, notes of fresh hay and delicately spicy herbs. Pleasantly bittersweet without being medicinal. Soothing, soft finish. A very grounding cup of tea.
Ginseng is a root crop in the Panax genus with three cultivated varieties: Korean ginseng, South China ginseng, and American ginseng. Wild ginseng varieties also exist but are much rarer and in some regions are nearly extinct due to overharvesting. When sold, ginseng comes in three varieties: green or fresh ginseng; white ginseng, which has been peeled and dried; and red ginseng, which has been peeled, heated, and dried. The name Ginseng comes from Chinese characters for "person" and "plant root," since the forked roots often look like people.
